Guest Lecture by Oumar Doumbouya

On November 16, Oumar Doumbouya, Head of the European Parliament’s External Service, gave a compelling lecture on threats to democracy, including the rise of polarization, extremism, and illiberalism. The event, attended by close to 100 CCNY students, provided valuable insight into the current electoral landscape and forecasted challenges to consider in the upcoming US and European elections.

Oumar Doumbouya acts in many capacities for the European Union, with experience representing the EU and Parliament among foreign dignitaries. Currently, he is Director of European Parliament’s Democracy Partnerships, the liaison office between US Congress and the European Parliament, and the European Union-United Nations Antenna.
