March 18, 2026 

On Friday, March 6, the Moynihan Center hosted the NextGen Regional Meeting, bringing together students from The Volcker Alliance’s Next Generation Service Corps schools across New York City and New Jersey for a day dedicated to connection, collaboration, and professional growth. 

Alongside the Moynihan Public Service Fellows, we welcomed students and staff from Baruch College, Rutgers University–Newark, and Montclair State University. The event featured a keynote from Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership Dean Marc Ostfield, along with presentations by Layana Abu Touq on networking and by Hamelin Batista and Kate Nicoletti on upcoming opportunities for students. 

We were also joined by four panelists who shared their journeys to careers in public service. Our panelists included:

• Ahsia Badi, Executive Director, NYC Children’s Cabinet, NYC Commission on Gender Equity
• Aissata M.B. Camara, Commissioner, NYC Mayor’s Office of International Affairs
• Jashawn Frederick, Director of Strategic Planning Operations, NYC Campaign Finance Board
• Daniel J. Ricci, Manager of Data and Compliance, NYC Economic Development Corporation
